What is Bobcat Welcome Week?
Bobcat Welcome Week is a university transition program designed to officially welcome new students to the university. Building on New Student Orientation, this program allows new students to further explore opportunities, services, and resources helpful in their transition and pursuit of student success!
The Bobcat Welcome Week experience for the spring semester focuses on Bobcat Life Digital Onboarding. These online training modules are required educational content that will provide you with important information about a variety of resources you'll use during your time as a Bobcat.

What is the difference between Bobcat Welcome Week and Bobcats Back?
Bobcat Welcome Week is Texas State University's welcome program for first-year students. Bobcat Welcome provides first-year students with the opportunities to learn more about Texas State University and prepare for the first week of classes. For the Spring 2024 semester, Bobcat Welcome Week will focus on the Bobcat Life Digital Onboarding (via Canvas starting January 10th at 12:00pm).
Bobcats Back is Texas State University's two-week welcome program that welcomes ALL students, new and returning, back to the start of classes. During the first two weeks of each semester, students are able to learn more about the university, find opportunities for involvement in and out of the classroom, and enjoy all of the fun activities that make students Proud to be a Bobcat! Do I have to participate in the Bobcat Welcome Week experience? Who is it for?
Bobcat Welcome Week is a required experience designed for incoming first-year students at Texas State as they begin their college experience. Transfer students are not required to participate in Bobcat Welcome Week but may request access to the digital onboarding by contacting Craig Willie, Director of New Student and Family Experiences, at craig.willie@txstate.edu if they would like to explore the resources.

Can graduate students participate in Bobcat Welcome Week?
The Bobcat Welcome Week experience is primarily designed for undergraduate students to better prepare them for their first year at Texas State.
The Graduate College has a two-part, optional orientation opportunity for new graduate students through their New Graduate Student Orientation (NGSO) experience: NGSO: Canvas, a self-paced guided resource you have access to throughout your time at Texas State, and their in-person NGSO: Meet & Greet events.

What is Bobcat Life Digital Onboarding?
Bobcat Life Digital Onboarding consists of six, educational video modules housed in Canvas - Texas State's learning management system. These modules provide you with important information about a variety of resources you'll use in your first year as a Bobcat! If you are a first-year student, you should have access to the Canvas site beginning Monday, January 10th at 12:00pm. Completion of all modules is due Wednesday, January 31st at 11:59pm. I've heard someone mention Bobcat Preview. What is that?
Bobcat Preview was a previous version of the Bobcat Welcome Week program. We have recently updated and rebranded the program to better meet the needs of our incoming first-year students. Bobcat Preview is no longer taking place at TXST, and you have no requirements or commitments related to it.
